Local Caregiver Program
We at Seneca AAA believe many caregivers don’t give themselves credit for all they do. We have a broad definition of a caregiver. It is anyone who is providing for another individual in some way that contributes to that individual’s well-being physically, emotionally, spiritually, or otherwise. We strongly believe a caregiver’s role is extremely important and recognize that often times caregivers neglect their own needs. We want to be a safety net for caregivers.
This program strives to provide education, options, and resources for family caregivers both on an individual basis and in group settings.
Support and information is a phone call or email away. Our Family Caregiver Specialist is also available for group training. Topics for education include Medicare, healthcare scams, substitute decision-making, and long-term care. Additionally, there are special events with guest speakers throughout the year. Go to our calendar for up-coming events. We have a newsletter especially designed for caregivers. It is called the Caregiver’s Comfy Couch.
We also have special library project for caregivers. At each of our county seat libraries is the Caregiver Corner. This section of the library has books, DVDs, magazines, and other resources to encourage and educate caregivers.
