Nutrition Program Information
Our Senior Nutrition Program includes:
- Nutritional, well-balanced meals
- A focus on wellness, good nutrition, and exercise.
- Recreation, social interaction, and educational opportunities.
The Nutrition Program provides nutritious meals to promote healthy aging. Through nutritionally sound meals, education and counseling, information is available for those who are nutritionally-at-risk. Each meal meets one-third of the current daily recommended dietary allowances/dietary reference intakes as established by the Food & Nutrition Board of the National Research Council for the National Academy of Sciences.
Meals are provided to the 60+ person and their spouse in congregate settings at area senior centers. Combining a nutritious meal with friendship, socialization, and recreation reduces the isolation for older persons. This same meal is available as a home delivered meal to eligible older persons in designated communities. These reassuring and nutritionally sound services enable them to remain in their own home.
Specific information about meals is on our meal options page.
